Organiser's Comments - Brian Keegan

Despite the forecast the weather could not have been better. I hope you all enjoyed the event. I apologise for the lack of toilets. The Ranger did arrive eventually and explained that his vehicle had broken down in Frodsham, which prevented him from opening the toilets until 1.00 pm. Many thanks to my band of willing helpers, to Ellesmere Port & Neston Borough Council for permission to use the area and the Rangers at Rivacre Country Park for their co-operation.

Planners Comments - Malcolm Irvine

I hope you enjoyed the courses. With so many things happening at the moment I'm afraid much of it was done at the last minute. There were a few things I would have changed if I had been more organised and planned a little more in advance. Nethertheless, everything seemed to go well on the day despite my early departure to watch Tranmere get beaten at home again.

Results and Statistics - Malcolm Irvine

This year the production of the results has been passed on to me. The results have been very ably produced by John Armstrong for several years and therefore it will be hard to maintain these standards, but I'll try.

There are a few question marks in the results where the information was either not there or not clear on the control cards. If you have a ? against your result could you please advise me so I can update the results. The results and rankings for now must be provisional. For example, NY won the Light Green course. No points have been so far been awarded to her/him, but if she/he does qualify for a school this will alter all the points awarded on this course.

To make my job simpler, at future events could you ensure that you put your full name, school and year class in legible writing on the control card.

I would also comment that after initially checking the control cards I found that three members from well known Deeside orienteering family had either retired or were disqualified. I spent quite a long time studying the control cards because I found it difficult to believe that these two experienced orienteers would miss a control. In the end I decided to reinstate them as I eventually worked out that they had visited all the controls. One had missed a box but had the subsequent punch marks in correct order. The other appears to have missed a control and punched the missing control in box 22 (the last control). Nether had an explanation to explain the error.
