Lost property

Thanks to all the teams that braved the wet weather to compete in the 7th Schools relay event and particularly the helpers Peter, Clare, Simon, Callum, Norman, Rick, Gwyn, Ann, Joy and Hannah who gave up their morning without the benefit of a free run that usually accompanies helping duties. Also thanks to Noel Schorah who planned the courses.

The event seemed to go well. Despite my request for teams to get to the start area for 10:30, I think where were only three teams there by 10:40; the mass starts did set off on time, just! Although three teams did start about 90 seconds late, two competed against each other on the Primary and so this made little difference. There was one minor glitch when I presented the silver medal to the 3rd placed team in Relay 3. One of the problems when trying to write on Tyvec card in the wet with a ballpoint pen is it doesn't work very well. My interpretation of the indentation on the card was wrong. Fortunately, the error was pointed out fairly quickly - my apologies to the teams concerned.

The Schools League starts up again on 28 September when MEROC will be hosting an event at Sefton Park. Click here for further information on the provisional fixture list for next year.

Planner's Comments, Noel Schorah

I hope you all enjoyed your course at Arrowe Park. Although it is not our most technical area, I tried to plan courses which would provide some fast 'head to head' racing while still giving the challenge of navigating accurately at speed

Thanks to Gwyn for following me around the park (in the rain!) early on Saturday morning to check the controls and to Malcolm for reviewing the courses before the event. Also thanks to Wirral Borough Council and the Arrowe Park Rangers for allowing us to use the park.
