Organiser's Comments - Peter Hills

The attached table shows the final results for the 2004 Summer League. I must apologise for the delay in producing these. Note the following points.

The Deeside Summer League (or Galoppen as it used to be called) is open to all members of Deeside Orienteering Club.

The Summer League is based on the results of eleven summer evening events organised by DEE, MDOC and ERYRI. The events used are:

Delamere East	Big Covert	Primrose Hill
Eastham	Delamere Linmere	Macclesfield Forest (MDOC)
Rivacre	Pen-y-Cloddiau (with ERYRI)	Arrowe Park
Teggs Nose (MDOC)	Alderley Edge (MDOC)

The MDOC event on Brereton Heath, although on the summer evening program, has not been included as it was the same week as the Deeside event at Rivacre, nor is the Deeside-only event at Halkyn, as this was a score event.

Points are awarded as follows:

The fastest Deesider in each class is awarded 100 points.

Other competitors in each class are awarded points based on the difference between their time and that of the winner in their class. The competitor is awarded one point less than the class winner for every 30 seconds or part thereof behind the class winner.

A competitor must score points in at least three events to be included in the final results.
The six best results of each competitor are used to calculate their points total at the end of the season. Best four results are used for the Long Yellow/Red (D) courses, as these are not available at every event.
Only people running as individuals can enter the Galoppen; groups running together do not count.

In order to give a reasonable number of competitors in each class where possible, some adjustments have been made to the class divisions compared with previous years, as follows:

Veteran Ladies B (Green course for W40+) has been combined with Senior Ladies B. Note that the winner of this combined class is actually a veteran!

The lower age limit for veteran men has been raised to 45. This reflects the aging population of the club!

Trophies for the winners of each class will be presented at the AGM on 12th October.
