It was nice to use a part of Delamere which has not been used much since 1977, and one that I could plan some courses to controls where people hadn't gone before. The map however needed a few tweaks! From the comments that I heard at the finish, most people seemed to have enjoyed the courses, the weather was in our favour, which significantly helped the running of the event. I must apologise for the amount of undergrowth, especially in the northern part of the area. The undergrowth had put on a sudden growth spurt about two weeks before the event, and by then it was too late to do anything about it. My thanks must go to all the people who helped to collect in controls, Paul, Nigel, Aidan, Janet, Zoe, Philip, and Mike. My thanks must also go to my Dad, Mike for his helpful comments as controller, to Clare for organising it so smoothly, and to Simon for helping us program the controls. Thanks to all, and I hope that you enjoyed the courses and the night.
Can't add much to Matthew's comments other than to say that Delamere at the end of May will always suffer from issues with undergrowth - it's a fine compromise against too much path running. Hopefully there weren't too many 'bingo' controls for earlier runners. Winning times were all within the correct range - being a Summer Evening Event the Yellow was deliberately made relatively straightforward if a little shorter than ideal. Clare and Simon are to be applauded for running the event as SI, as this is the route that the club increasingly wants to follow - it should get easier the more people that understand the system (programming of which is currently not without it's quirks....).
