Cheshire & Merseyside Schools Events

Schools events are open to all comers, but there is not a full range of technical courses. White, Yellow, Orange, Light Green and Green courses are available at most Schools Events. If the area is not of an adequate technical standard for a green course a long light green course will be provided. These events are ideal for beginners.

To reduce queuing at registration, schools and groups can pre-enter by telephone by 20:00 on the Wednesday before the event. For DEE events, please telephone the event organiser. For MEROC events, please contact Matthew Cochrane either by telephone (01695 555421) or by . Pre-printed maps will be available at MEROC events. To guarantee a pre-printed map it is essential that school teams (or other orienteers) should register by the 20:00 Wednesday deadline. Master maps will be available for entry on the day. A master map procedure will still apply to DEE events.

Some events, as indicated, will use SPORTident (SI) electronic punching (highlighted in purple). You can hire an SI card for £1, but it will cost you £20 if you lose it!

Deeside Summer Evening Event Programme and Summer League

All summer evening events offer courses that are suitable for novices and experienced orienteers. Registration will be from 17:30, with start times from 18:00 to 19:15. Fees for the 2007 events were £3.50 for seniors (£4.00 if not a member of an orienteering club) and £1.00 for juniors. Fees for 2008 are unlikely to change much, if at all.

Event details for 2008's Summer Evening Event programme will be published around March 2008. Meanwhile, the Provisional Programme shows the events we hope to hold, and shows vacancies for DEE members to volunteer as Planner, Organiser or Controller.

The following courses will be offered at most events.

Course Technical
difficulty
Typical length
km

Yellow easy 1.5 - 2.5 - suitable for beginners
Orange medium 2.5 - 3.5 - suitable for adult beginners
Light Green moderate 2.5 - 3.5
Green difficult 3.5 - 5.0
Blue difficult 5.0 - 7.5 - may be replaced by a 'long technical' course where the terrain is not suitable for a full blue course

Our Summer Leagues are based on the results achieved by club members at Summer Evening Events.
The Summer League rules are used to calculate the league results.
